Within a week of its launch in 2005 Google Analytics had to suspend new account creation due to absolutely massive interest in the service. The system’s capacity was rapidly overwhelmed and immediate upgrades had to be made.
Its popularity has continued to the present day and, unsurprisingly, Google Analytics is now the most widely used web analytics service on the net.
Its devotion to innovation and the constant addition of new features that has kept it at the head pack. For instance, since 2011 Real Time analytics has allowed users gather insights about users currently on their site and a version to track iOS and Android mobile app usage has also been developed.
Whole books could (and have been) written about the features and uses of Google Analytics but this article is concerned solely with one admin question: how do you add new users to your Google Analytics profile?
Adding another user
We’ve got good news: it’s a straightforward procedure! First up, from your home page, you’ll want to find the ‘Admin’ tab on the side bar. It’s a cog looking icon that should be towards the the bottom left of your screen.

Next you need to click on the ‘User Management’ button in either the ‘Account’ or ‘View’ column, depending on the sort of access you want the newcomer to have.

Now you should have a ‘View Users’ screen is front of you that displays anyone you’ve added to the profile, a good way to check later that this process worked! For now, click the plus symbol in the top right of your screen and select ‘Add new users’ from the dropdown menu it opens.

On this new ‘Add Permissions’ screen you have a field to enter the gmail addresses (specifically the gmail address, other emails won’t work) of the people you want to include.
Once you’ve included all the accounts you want, tick the ‘notify new users by email’ checkbox if you need to prompt them, then hit the ‘Add’ button in the top right and that’s a wrap!
So now you have the ability to add as many new users to your Google Analytics profile as you need.
